Let me tell you a bit about this really "spooky" Chat System.
First, there are six (6) common types of Chat, "Normal", "Civil", "Whisper", "Guild", "Party" and, the newest one, "Kingdom".
Let me list their description for an easy reading:
-Normal: The white one (slightly pink if the phrase is yours, and often mistaken with Party Chat, the pink one). This type can only be seen by those around you, in a small area. To Normal Chat press "Enter", type whatever you want and then press "Enter" again to say it ("message").
-Civil: The purple one. This type can only be seen by those that are citizens of the same Server. That means that a Server 2's citizen can't read a Server 3's Civil Chat. You can use this Chat anywhere and every citizen of the same Server as you can read it. Yes, even if you're in Armia and the others are killing Kephra (that means a long distance). To Civil Chat do as Normal Chat, but type "@@" (double at) before your message ("@@ message").
-Whisper: The yellow one and most tedious for Operators. This type can only be seen by the two persons talking. Yes, it means it's a Private Chat. You can Whisper any player, as long as it's logged into the same Server as you're. That means you can't Whisper anyone who isn't in the same Server as you are, or you'll get the "This player is not online." message. To use it simply press "Enter", type "/" (slash) and then the EXACT nickname of the player you want to Whisper. Then type your message and press "Enter" again (/Pvt.Shuffle message). Why did I remark "exact" with Capitals? Because isn't it obvious? The system will think you wanted to talk to "Pvt.Shuffling" instead of "Pvt.Shuffle", and if the former one is not online (or doesn't exist) you'll get the "This player is not online." message. Make sure you leave a space (" ") between the nickname and your message, because the system will think it's all a name. Example: /Pvt.Shufflehello will be taken as a Whisper to the character Pvt.Shufflehello, instead of Pvt.Shuffle hello.
-Guild: The slightly greenish one. If you're lucky to belong to a guild or an Academy, you'll often see this type of Chat. It can only be seen by those who belong to the same Guild/Academy, just like the Civil Chat but with a Guild/Academy. To talk in Guild Chat do as Normal Chat but type "-" (dash) before your message ("- message").
-Kingdom: The blue one and newest type of Chat. This can only be seen by those who belong to the same Kingdom, that means only Red Capers can read a Kingdom Chat wrote by a Red Caper and same for Blue ones. To Kingdom Chat do as Normal Chat, but type "@" (at) before the message ("@ message").
-Party: The pink one. Only players gathered in a Party can see this type of Chat. Even if someone has a Party and you have another one, you can't see what they're writing, since you're not in thier Party. To Party Chat you first need to be in a Party, then do as Normal Chat, but type "=" before the message ("= message").
OK, now we've finished the common types. Let's get to the "uncommon" ones:
-Ally: The sky blue one (slightly blue), often mistaken with Kingdom Chat because of it's colors. If your Guild has allies, they'll all see this Chat (including your own Guild members as well). To type in Ally Chat do as Guild Chat, but add an extra "-" (dash) after the other one ("-- message").
-Shout: The strong green one. The most expensive type of Chat, since it's the only one that requires an item that's bought through Nell. This Chat can be read by everyone, everywhere and even if they're in any other Server. To Shout you need at least one piece of "Shout" and then do as Whisper Chat, but instead of a nickname you put "spk" (/spk message).
-System: The grey one. This are messages from the system or GMs. You'll see a black box with the message in white, but in your Chat Box it'll appear grey. You can't write, but you can read it.
-Private Mail/Message: This is a special type of Whisper Chat, where you can send or receive mails. To do it simply do as Whisper Chat, but before your message type "!" (exclamation mark) (/Pvt.Shuffle ! message). It'll leave a mail and show a little blinking black box with a letter envelope drawing and a red exclamation mark over it. You can click on it to see the mails you've got. After that, it'll disappear, but you can still access your mails by pressing "H" on you keyboard (not chatting it) and then going to the "Message" tab.
Then why did I say "spooky" before? The restrictions, payed Shout, crappy GUI, etc. But does it work or not? Yeah. So I better shut up or GMs will hang m... I mean relieve me of my command.
GUI (Game User Interface) For Chat Box:
Trivia:
-Did you know that typing "/r" will Whisper the last player who Whispered you (Reply)?
-Did you know that typing only the name with no message in Whisper Chat will show you that player's Nickname, Guild Affiliation, Citizenship and Fame in System Chat? Example: Typing "/Pvt.Shuffle" will shown you in System Chat "Pvt.Shuffle [ALPHA] Citizen: 1 Fame: 10".
-Did you know that you can scroll your last said five (5) phrases by pressing "Up Arrow"?
-Did you know that you can scroll the last five (5) players you've Whispered by pressing "Down Arrow"?
-Did you know that you can turn off any of the common Chats by pressing their corresponding name (below the Chat Box) except Party Chat?
-Did you know that Shout Chat counts as Normal Chat and Ally Chat as Guild chat for the system?
-Did you know that you can scroll the Chat Box with your keyboard's "Previous Page" and "Next Page" instead of pressing the arrows in the GUI (Game User Interface)?
-Did you know that pressing "+" will enlarge the Chat Box up to four (4) times? 1 = No Chat Box, 2 = Normal Chat Box, 3 = Twice the Normal Chat Box size, 4 = Thrice the Normal Chat Box Size.
-Did you know that typing "*" before the Normal Chat will make that message display for ten (10) seconds ("* message")?
-Did you know that in any Chat considered as Normal Chat you can't see any special symbol except "@" (at) and "-" (dash)? Although you can see it in the phrases you said, the rest can't. So it's useless to type them anyway.
-Did you know that any mail you have will be deleted if you close the game? Yeah, pretty useless mail system, huh. Especially for those who get disconnected a lot (like me) or their games close suddenly sometimes (like me).
-Did you know that the last party I went to I ended up...? OAK: This isn't the time to speak about that, Pvt.Shuffle.
Well, I guess that's all folks. For now... Mwahahahahahaha...
